Cherub WMT-565C: The 5-in-1 Tuner, Metronome and Humidity Monitor for Kerala Musicians

Every musician needs three things to practise well: an instrument that is in tune, a steady sense of time, and an instrument kept in good condition. In Kerala, that third point matters more than most places. Our long monsoon, coastal humidity and hot afternoons are tough on wood, strings and glue. The Cherub WMT-565C String Instrument Mate covers all three in a pocket-sized unit. Here is a closer look at what it does and why it suits players in Alappuzha and across Kerala.

What is the Cherub WMT-565C?

The WMT-565C is Cherub's all-new "5 in 1" device. It combines a metronome, tuner, tone generator (sound), hygrometer and thermometer in one compact body with a large, full-colour, high-definition LCD. Instead of carrying a clip-on tuner, a separate metronome and a humidity gauge, you get everything in one 82 g unit that measures just 105 × 65 × 15 mm.

A precise tuner for many instruments

The tuner covers a wide range, from A0 (27.4 Hz) to C8 (4186 Hz), with ±1 cent precision. It has five tuning modes:

  • Chromatic for any instrument
  • Guitar
  • Bass
  • Violin
  • Ukulele

You can set the A4 reference pitch anywhere from 430 Hz to 450 Hz. That helps when you play with a harmonium, keyboard or group tuned slightly away from standard 440 Hz, which is common in church choirs, bhajan groups and stage orchestras. In guitar and bass modes, flat tuning (b and bb) lets you tune down for heavier songs or to match a singer's comfortable key.

The colour screen makes it easy to see whether a note is high, low or in tune. A 6.35 mm input lets you plug in an electro-acoustic guitar, an electric guitar or a pickup for accurate tuning even in a noisy hall or classroom. A 6.35 mm output passes the signal on to your amp.

A flexible metronome for better timing

Good timing separates a confident player from a nervous one. The WMT-565C metronome offers:

  • Tempo range of 30–250 BPM
  • Beat settings from 0 to 9, plus several rhythm patterns
  • Tempo precision of ±0.3%
  • A choice of electronic click or vocal count (1–6 beats)
  • Adjustable forte (accent), so the first beat of each bar stands out

The vocal count is especially helpful for beginners and children in music classes, because hearing "one, two, three, four" is easier to follow than a click. A headphone output lets you practise silently late at night without disturbing the family.

Tone generator for ear training

The built-in sound function plays reference notes: chromatic pitches (2A–6A), all six open guitar strings, bass strings, violin strings (G, D, A, E) and ukulele strings (G, C, E, A). Tuning by ear against a reference note is a valuable skill. Violin and ukulele students in particular benefit from hearing the correct pitch before they adjust.

Hygrometer and thermometer: the feature Kerala needs most

This is what makes the WMT-565C stand out. It continuously shows real-time humidity (0–100%) and temperature (−40 °C to 85 °C) in blue in the corner of the screen.

Why does this matter? Acoustic guitars, violins, ukuleles and other wooden instruments are very sensitive to humidity. During the monsoon, high humidity can make the wood swell. That raises the string action, makes the tone dull and can loosen glue joints. On the other hand, long hours in a strongly air-conditioned room can dry the wood out and cause cracks or sharp fret ends.

With the WMT-565C on your music stand or in your case, you can see the conditions at a glance. Then you can keep the instrument in its case, use a humidity pack, move it away from a damp wall or window, or give it time to settle before a performance. A small habit like this can save you an expensive repair.

Rechargeable and travel-friendly

The WMT-565C runs on a built-in rechargeable Li-Po battery (3.7 V, 580 mAh) that lasts up to 600 minutes, so you don't have to keep buying button cells. It comes with a USB cable and a pickup, and it fits easily in a gig bag pocket for classes, rehearsals and programmes.

Who should buy the WMT-565C?

  • Students and music-class learners who need a tuner and metronome in one simple device
  • Acoustic guitar, violin and ukulele players who want to protect their instruments in Kerala's climate
  • Bass and electric guitar players who want accurate plug-in tuning
  • Teachers who want one reliable tool for the classroom
  • Parents buying a practical, long-lasting accessory for a child starting music
